Dr. STEPHEN BATIUK is the co-founder of ArchaeoTek. A well-published archaeologist, with 25 years of research and teaching, he has now re-joined ArchaeoTek full-time as Director.  He holds his degrees from the University of Toronto (MA and Ph.D.) and the University of Ottawa, and his areas of specialization include Near Eastern archaeology (particularly the Bronze and Iron Ages of Turkey, Iraq, Syria, and the Caucasus). He has 30 years of field work experience, having participated in archaeological projects in Ethiopia, France, Georgia, Iraq, Israel, Romania, and Turkey. He is the Director of G.R.A.P.E.  where he is exploring  the evidence for the earliest known wine. He is also a co-Field Director at the East Nineveh Archaeological Project (Iraq), and  was the Director of Excavations for the Tayinat Archaeological Project (Turkey), and the Project Manager for the Computational Research on the Ancient Near East Project.
